A consortium led by Zelan Bhd has clinched a US$560mil (RM2bil) engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract for a new power plant in Indonesia.
The work, expected to last 33 months, is for a two 300-MW coal-fired turbines in Rembang, Central Java.
Zelan has a 70% stake in the venture with the balance 30% held by Indonesian conglomerate PT Priamanaya Djan International. The consortium was notified of the award by Indonesia's PT PLN Persero on Wednesday.
The project was the largest single contract won by the group.Before this, its single largest contract was the RM1.3bil Tanjung Bin 2,100-MW coal-fired power plant.
With Rembang, the Group attained its long-term goal of becoming a full-fledged international Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) contractor and has now moved to the apex of the value chain.
Rembang power plant project is in central Jawa island of Indonesia, which is invested and established by Indonesia National Power Corporation (PT PLN(PERSERO). A Phase-1 2X (300-400MW) coal-fired power plant units are built up there for relieving the power supply demand in this island. The project, which includes 2 sets of coal fired power generation units with 300MW to 400MW capacity for each and the related auxiliaries, is located in the village TAHARAN of east Rembang city, central Jawa, Indonesia.
